About the network
The VWN emerged from the Science Journalism Section of the NVJ, the Dutch Association of Journalists. In 1985, the section continued as an independent Association of Science Journalists in the Netherlands.
Many members, especially freelancers, were not only involved in independent science journalism, but also in business journalism, information and other forms of public communication.
That is why the name and objectives were changed in 2013, and the VWN is now the Association for Science Journalism and Communication, but with special attention to independent science journalism.
Projects
The Association organises events for its members, including debates, workshops, museum tours and drinks meet-ups.
