Hostwriter powers the collaborative future of journalism. The network includes more than 6500 journalists from 162 countries.
Projects
Hostwriter focuses on training journalists and enhancing cross border journalism. Members of Hostwriter offer their expertise and often also their couch to other journalists documenting stories that reach their own local areas, sharing resources and knowledge through the HostWIRE platform.
The team produced two collaborative journalism booklets that are available to download for free: Cross-border Journalism as a Mindset and Cross-border Journalism as a Method.
In 2019, Hostwriter launched an illustrated anthology called Unbias the News: Why diversity matters for journalism, and two years later launched a newsroom with the same name. Unbias the News, a feminist cross-border newsroom, creates a space for journalists who come up against structural barriers in their field, and produces award-winning collaborative journalism, such as The Sinking Cities Project, about cities around the world preparing for the sea level rise.
