About the network
The Ethical Journalism Network brings together more than 70 groups of journalists, publishers and media support groups from around the world. It focuses on education about the principles of ethical journalism and the importance of ethics, human rights and good governance in the practice of journalism.
The network advises policymakers and human rights groups about media ethics, media literacy and hate speech, both on a European and global level.
Projects
The network has produced guides and reports on reporting migration, racism and combatting hate speech.
- Structural Racism in UK Newsrooms – a policy report highlighting how Black journalists are harassed and excluded from editorial processes in news media in the UK.
- The Trust Factor – a review of journalism self-regulation.
- Hate Speech: A 5-point Test for Journalists – a report which helps journalists judge the potential impact of offensive content.
