Dataharvest – the European Investigative Journalism Conference

Annual conference on cross-border, investigative journalism, gathering around 550 journalists, arranged by Arena for Journalism in Europe.

About the network

The Dataharvest Conference aims at bringing journalists together across borders to work together on stories that have relevance for more than one country. It is a working conference, where stories are developed, and methods are exchanged.

The conference has grown out of a group of EU correspondents that met every year to “harvest” the data on the EU agricultural funds – hence the name. The group opened its meetings to other journalists in 2011, and it has then grown to be one of the biggest investigative journalism conferences in Europe.

Dataharvest is arranged by Arena for Journalism in Europe.

Projects

The 2023 conference gathered 524 journalists from 40 countries, with tickets sold out 7 weeks before the conference.

Dataharvest now has a little sister, the Climate Arena, focusing on investigative climate journalism and convening in the autumn.
