About the network

CMFE works towards a better position of community media in Europe. It is an international non-profit organisation founded in 2004, focused on strengthening “the third media sector” by facilitating its participation in discussions and decision-making at the European level. It represents community media in various European working groups and so far it has 98 members from 25 European countries.

CMFE has had observer status with the Council of Europe Steering Committee on Media and Information Society since 2007, is a member of The Global Forum for Media Development and an associate member of the Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium.

Projects

Display Europe – Soon to be a media cooperative, Display Europe is a platform aiming to foster a European digital public space, supporting journalism and communication initiatives that encourage an open dialogue.

E3J – The European Excellence Exchange in Journalism project builds resources for collaborative, cross-border journalism, focusing on some of the most crucial themes of our time: climate change, migration and public health.

New Neighbours – Highlights the contributions of refugees and migrants in their communities by promoting their direct participation in media production.
