Clean Energy Wire (CLEW)

The CLEW Journalism Network brings together journalists covering the energy transition and climate policy from across the globe.

About the network

CLEW is a Berlin-based European initiative and platform for collaborative and solution-oriented climate and energy journalism – championing journalism that matters for tackling climate change. The team of dedicated journalists and experts cover the relevant stories on Europe’s move to climate neutrality, together with a worldwide network of journalists and experts.

Through the online network, journalists can connect each other and participate in the activities of CLEW. The organisation can support journalists in their work and assist with research, provide background information and help to find the right interviewees to speak with on a wide variety of topics. CLEW also provides online and in-person training and events as well as organises study tours. The organisation also provides collaborative cross-border grants and runs a blog where members can share experiences, tips and lessons on energy transition journalism.

The network is global, representing more than 80 countries on five continents, with more than 500 members. Their members and ambassadors cover various areas of the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energies. You can find specialised journalists using the map, or search the list of network members by expertise or country. Only network members have access to the full list of members in the CLEW Journalism Network.

Ambassadors are volunteer CLEW representatives in their respective countries or regions. Their representation goes two ways: members of the CLEW Journalism Network can contact ambassadors to get local know-how of all aspects of energy transition. The ambassadors also help the Clean Energy Wire team in Berlin to understand the needs and interests of journalists where they are. The network currently has 17 volunteer representatives.
