About the network
The Bulgarian-Romanian Observatory of Digital Media is a hub of the European Digital Media Observatory, which works to analyse disinformation in a collaborative effort by media literacy experts, academics, fact-checkers and media outlets.
BROD publishes a feed of fact-check articles to debunk information circulating in Romania and Bulgaria. The fact-checking is done by the local operations of Agence France-Presse, Verificat in Romania and Proveri in Bulgaria, as well as local partners the Bulgarian National Television, and Factual in Romania.
Projects
Additionally to the fact-checking, BROD also produces research and media literacy resources.
Recent research reports include Evaluating the Implementation of the EU Code of Practice on Disinformation in Romania and Bulgarians’ views on the war in Ukraine, EU, NATO and democracy, and their belief in disinformation narratives.
BROD offers media literacy resources for teachers, librarians and journalists and plans to make them available in Romanian and Bulgarian, while developing an online tool to make teachers’ lives easier when searching for these materials.
