Sphera Network

Sphera is a consortium of European independent media producing videos and podcasts for a more humane and socially-engaged European journalism.

About the network

Launched in 2021, Sphera Network is a consortium of European media and cultural organisations for socially-engaged young Europeans. Coordinated by the media NGO Babel International (France), its members, El Salto (Spain), Popaganda (Greece), StreetPress (France), 444 (Hungary), VDNews (Italy), Krytyka Polityczna (Poland), Bulle Média (Belgium), Arty Farty (France) and Dinamo (Italy), Sphera is producing videos and podcasts in seven languages on key issues for the European Youth.

With a focus on social issues, climate emergency, identities and migration, the decentralised network is providing new European perspectives to its audience, in a movement for young Europeans to shape the continent’s future.

Projects

Each month, the members are producing a unique series (6 videos and 1 podcast) on a common issue, to see national and cross-border perspectives emerge. For instance, in December 2023, the network tackled the topic of “Historical Reckonings” where members showcased how all European societies are talking about their past.

Members also work on cross-border video productions , where a duo of partners produce an impactful video documentary together. The series Transistence, on trans rights fights in Greece and Italy, premiered at the Athens International Journalism Festival in October 2023. So far, 4 of their podcast series have received prizes.
